Avatar: The Way of Water
US Premiere

B. Creative Design & Services curated, procured, and orchestrated the on-site design and installation of the entire fictional plantscape for this red-carpet affair. The highlight was crafting a fully immersive bioluminescent experience featuring over 1000 live plants. We also collaborated on the fabrication, assembly, and plantscaping of several enormous rock formations including waterfalls and floating mountains.

Utilizing schematics provided by the client, we undertook the transformation of a 2,500 square foot tent into the fantastical bioluminescent world of Pandora. The strategic plan included the integration of three entrances designed to lead guests through two dense pathways, adorned with strategically placed branding and custom-fabricated floral features. Both pathways converged at the grand reveal of the Waterfall Room, adding an element of discovery to the experience. Once Brenda conceptualized the visual layout and layering, her attention turned to determining plant sizes, quantities, and species.

After extensive research on Pandora, Brenda engaged in discussions with a fellow Imagineer, who had led art direction for sections of Walt Disney World's The World of Avatar. Armed with this newfound knowledge and a wealth of creativity, Brenda curated live trees, plants, and flowers from the real world to seamlessly blend with the imaginary realm. The dense layout, requiring seven truckloads of greens ranging from 6 inches to 12 feet tall, necessitated Brenda's hands-on art direction for the final on site placement. Once every element was meticulously arranged and styled, various black light reflective effects were employed to enhance the enchantment.

As Brenda thoughtfully planned the rainforest, Dave collaborated with the client's production team, skillfully hand sculpting and painting rock walls created to accommodate functioning waterfalls. Each colossal section was crafted to seamlessly interlock like giant puzzle pieces. Upon arriving on-site, we artfully styled these massive sculptures, enhancing them with smaller rocks, plants, and various moss varieties.

It was an honor to play such a significant role in the US premiere for one of the most successful films in the history of cinema.
