The Little Mermaid
World Premiere + After Party

B. Creative Design & Services sourced and fabricated the sets, props, and plant life for the grand entry of this red-carpet event. We also designed, art directed, and led installation of the scenic atmosphere for the after-party, including sourcing and placement of props, plants and decorative enhancements for catering and sponsor booths.

Our work started with a schematic from the event designer and a flatbed truck full of foam. Dave’s team took on shaping the foam into the giant rocks of Ariel’s grotto while Brenda sourced and prepared many dozens of “whosit and whatsit” treasures. She even included several easter eggs like keys hung between swords and 3-pronged “dinglehoppers”. After sculpting, painting, and mossing the rocks, every prop had to be thoughtfully placed and secured for packing and transportation to Hollywood Blvd.

 

Brenda curated a variety of live trees and plants that could visually represent an “under the sea” atmosphere sea plants, moss, and coral. On site, we led a small team getting everything perfectly in place.

 

The after-party décor began at the grand entrance corridor of The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, spanned into the lobby and ballroom, and continued around and above the entire outdoor pool area for the VIP Guests. We capitalized on the Spanish revival design of the hotel and some well-placed props to recreate the look and feel of the royal party at the end of the movie. In addition to scenic décor, we selected the linens and furniture, created all centerpieces for bars and tables, enhanced sponsor activations, and assisted with prop and costume displays.
