Game of Thrones
The Touring Exhibition

B. Creative Design & Services’ Brenda served as an Artifacts Supervisor for the Game of Thrones: The Exhibition dismantling project in Belfast, Northern Ireland, responsible for the safe and efficient disassembly of numerous original props and costumes. Brenda and a talented crew systematically wrapped, packed, crated, and documented each asset in preparation for its next destination.

In the fall of 2019 Brenda had the privilege to travel to Belfast, assisting the GES team with the dismantle of Game of Thrones: The Exhibition, made up entirely of props and costumes from a show she never watched, really. Despite possibly being the only one in the world that did not watch the show, she admired the work of Michele Clapton, Costume Designer, and Deborah Riley, Production Designer for years and was excited to see the detailed intricacy of their work firsthand.

This exhibit was rich with costumes and armory, requiring two artifact superiors; one specifically focused on armory and weapons and one to handle costumes and props. Brenda was brought on to work onsite with the HBO Archives team to ensure inventory and maintenance protocols were in place and used. There was a lot of anticipation around the archives team being onsite because they had also been the show’s costumers for all 8 seasons! The result was a fantastic week of collaboration and education, filled with behind-the-scenes stories and a lot of laughter. The GOT exhibit is a beast to install and dismantle but the teamwork and collab made it worth the while.

Once the exhibition was properly documented, packed, and crated, all artifacts, sets and costumes were returned to archives and integrated into the only Games of Thrones Studio Tour that opened in Banbridge, Northern Ireland in February 2022.
