Jungle Cruise
World Premiere

B. Creative Design & Services curated and directed the on-site installation and styling of tropical jungle environments across various locations in the Disneyland park. This involved extensive coordination with multiple suppliers, production companies, labor providers, and Disney departments. Additionally, we managed the custom fabrication of 2,000 seat cushions for the event.

“It takes a village” may be an overused phrase but in this case it really fits. Disneyland kept normal operating hours during the installation and event, so everything and everyone had to be orchestrated with precision, often overnight. They supplied us with detailed schematics and concept renderings we could use to do our part. The massive 3-day plant installation started with preparing for Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s unique arrival via a real Jungle Cruise boat from the attraction.

Though Adventureland is already appropriately themed, some areas required more set dressing for the occasion. The Tropical Hideaway restaurant had to be perfectly propped and plantscaped as a pre-reception area for VIP interviews and themed photo ops.

The red carpet, lined with several truckloads of tropical flora and oversized marketing posters, started at the Storybook Land Canal Boats, continued past It’s A Small World, and on to Fantasyland Theater. It’s a long walk. Along the way guests could stop for photos at the step and repeat before the path split in two. One was a press wall for celebrity interviews and photos. The second led to themed photo ops with Mickey & Minnie, concession stands, and costume displays.

Turning the Fantasyland Theater and its surroundings into a “comfortable epic Jungle” was quite an undertaking. We transformed the already beautifully landscaped grand entrance into a tropical paradise leading into the theater. Lush plant life lined the walls, accented the corners of the stage, and surrounded the DJ booth.

When the client asked if we could make the metal bench seating more comfortable for the 2+ hour screening, we designed and sourced custom-made, easy to install, seat cushions in record time. Despite timing, materials, and delivery challenges, guests had comfy seats to watch the film. It looks like the co-stars may agree. See Dwayne’s post below.
